Patient Owl
Level 3
The Little Badger's Tunnel
Little Badger wanted to dig a tunnel to the berry bush. The bush stood far across the meadow, and he had never gone so far. "I can dig it myself," he said, and he began.
Down, down he went. His strong paws pushed the soft earth, and the hole grew long.
Then his nose bumped into something hard. A big gray rock was in the way. Little Badger dug and dug until he felt small and tired.
Mother Badger found him there. "Every digger meets a rock," she said. "Do not break it. Dig around it."
So Little Badger turned and made a wide loop. He went on until he came out at the berry bush, where the berries hung sweet. He picked the best one and took it home to Mother.
